Attendance check[edit]

Can anyone explain how these work? ~ Bow User Bow Sig.png | 03:47, 27 May 2012 (UTC)

I read somewhere that each member logging in once every 24 hours will grant influence, so that could be it. Mediggo 11:30, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
It seems to be an award of 10 points per character logging in within the 24 hour period. So one player with multiple characters can get the award multiple times. I dont know for sure when the timer resets. The time the award is noted in the guild log varies, usually in the early morning. As such I am assuming the reset is midnight UTC, same as the daily achievements, but thats a guess. I also dont know how frequently the attendance check is carried out, but it would seem to occur more than a few minutes apart. I guess it might occur at random intervals or it might be something specific like say 15 mins apart. Grimlar 02:57, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
I have a one-person guild with 8 chars, I get 10 influence per 24 hours per char that I log in, with a maximum of 50 influence per 24 hours. The log entry is only added once every 24 hours to reflect the total of influence gained, but you get the influence as soon as you log in with a char. 80.112.204.26 11:18, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
I have been testing this out for about a month now and it is not a hard 24 hour reset, meaning once you log out a character the 24 hour clock does not start. Also, it does not reset at midnight UTC. It seems to be random time windows throughout the day that you can gain attendance influence if you log on. Glimmers 1600 UTC, 10 March 2013
My guess is that it's 24 hours since you logged in, rather than out. (It's also possible that it could reset at, say, the time you created your character.) Dagger 17:33, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
OK, that's not it. I recorded this for one of my characters (times are UTC+0):
Time Gain
23:28 (Tue) +10
13:25 (Wed) +10
20:52 (Wed) +0
05:54 (Thu) +0
13:46 (Thu) +10
09:11 (Fri) +10
18:28 (Fri) +0
07:11 (Sat) +10
17:31 (Sat) +0
...which confirms that it's not 24 hours from login (or out, since I only logged into this character for the influence and logged out immediately afterwards). It's consistent with a fixed reset time between 05:54 and 07:11 (possibly for this character, account or guild?). Note that server time was UTC-7 when I recorded the above data, meaning that midnight server time happens at 07:00 UTC+0, which happens to fall between those two times. -- Dagger 18:24, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
also, the article says that the attendance check does not award points for one person guilds. this is either untrue or not functional, as I'm currently getting attendance points (10 per day, as the norm) in my solo guild. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.128.88.51 (talk).
The article isn't true. I have several one person guilds across several accounts and am able to log in with several characters and get 30~50 influence points per guild as well --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.8.204.187 (talk).

The second sentence states that members do not need to represent the guild to gain influence when logging in. I do not believe to be true. One guild I joined, and no longer represent, has had no one log in, and represent, for over two weeks and is still at the same level of influence. Can someone else confirm this isn't just me? PriNT2357 18:13, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Mirrors my experiences. I'm in two two-man guilds that get represented only to use commendation letters, so less than a few minutes/week. Although the members log in every day (under a third guild) the influence stays the same.90.185.20.169 08:00, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
I have tested and found that 10 points get added to the guild that each character is representing when they log in for the first time that day. No random checks, no waiting needed. Test it yourself by representing 1 guild with all of your alts, then the next day log in, noting how much influence there is after each alt. The message in the log happens once per day and is a cumulative tally of that day's influence due to attendance. A member at the GW2 forums says that the alts need to be on different maps to get the bonus, and that overflows do work. 75.119.242.195 12:38, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
So, a corollary would be that when you log out you need to switch to the guild you want to grant influence to when you log back in. Correct? ButeoRegalis 06:16, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

The last couple of days (was idle before that) I've only been gaining 40 points (i.e. credited for 4 characters) for logging in. This was true in two different cases, one where they all logged in to the same guild (40 points for the guild) and one where they had split up. (30 pts for one guild, 10 for the other). Has anyone else experienced getting capped at 40 instead of 50? 76.253.2.43 08:28, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

I get any amount from 0 to 80 each day, although 50 is by far the most common number and 40 is the second most common. This hasn't changed since I started tracking this. 75.37.22.1 09:24, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

It is now 3 years and I still won't get anything near the numbers that should be granted. At best and on average I receive half the points due to me. I'll see that on the guild panel immediately after loging in and on the statistics.--95.91.251.209 12:09, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Dungeon Influence[edit]

I think you only need 3 members of a guild in a dungeon group to get 100 influence Nemow 06:06, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

This might be true. I did AC paths 1 and 2 with 3 others from my guild and one non-member and the log says that 200 influence was earned for the completion of 2 dungeons. 109.91.53.38 21:17, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
I can confirm getting 100 influence for doing dungeons with 3 guild members in a party of 5. However, when doing a run with only 2 guild members, the log states that we get 10 influence for the dungeon, instead of 10/person. Razgriz3 19:28, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

Status Influence[edit]

Hello, i would like to ask if the status (Online, Away, etc) count influence if we are in the status invisible/offline? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.91.17.80 (talk).

I doubt it because when you go invisible you can neither see nor talk in guild chat and if you try to talk it says you are not part of a guild. Away status however seems to have no effect. 71.68.238.112 20:54, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Answered: I have tested this theory, and yes you can earn individual influence for events(2 inf. per event) while 'invisible', but i have not had the chance to test it with PvP or Dungeons such a CoF yet.

As far as I've noticed you cannot get the guild group bonuses unless everyone in the guild group is 'online'.

World Swap[edit]

I'm in a one-man guild so i switched worlds to be in an America region with my cousins instead of Europe (accidentally signed up in but stayed because it synced up with my erratic late-night/early-morning gaming) and i had recently purchased several upgrades (while in the European Ring of Fire district). They are absent in the American Fort Aspenwood district but if i go back to the European world will i have my upgrades there? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.249.182.150 (talk).

Yes, they will still be there, along with any influence you earned while there. 75.37.19.179 04:34, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Influence in Chain Meta Events[edit]

Has anyone done any research on influence in chain events such as Maw? I know you can only get 20 influence max from each event, but what about the point when the great shaman summons the other shamans, the guards, and the portals? Do each of these count as a separate event, influence wise? Does that mean a well organized guild run who had people at every event could get 140 influence per maw, unbuffed? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sndarkjemcot (talk • contribs).

Each of those events are individual events, so they should count as normal.--Relyk ~ talk > 07:54, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
If they are distinct events, and in the case of The Frozen Maw they are, then yes. Influence is earned at the same time that you receive event rewards for a successful(?) event. (I don't think you earn influence for failed events, but I might be wrong.) —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:57, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

"Gifts were Recieved" (sic) in Guild History[edit]

What are those gifts? And how do you get more of them? You can see the message when you mouse over some listings in the history panel. It will show like "Members completed 30 activities earning 1,500 influence" but upon mouseover you see that 29 events gave 500 influence and "1 gifts were recieved for 1,000". 75.246.36.187 18:02, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

I assume it's just counting previous times that influence was bought or added via items, but the way it shows it doubled does get confusing. 75.216.142.141 10:01, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Cleaning up verification requests[edit]

Alright, before I clean what seems to be agreed upon; is there consensus on the following issues:

  • The daily influence bonus per character is reset at around -7 UTC.
  • sPvP Tournament wins give 50 influence if 2+ guild members participated, in addition to the +5 per person bonus.
  • Dungeons reward 10 Influence for a single member completing the dungeon, 20 Influence if two members complete the dungeon, and 100 if 3 or more complete the dungeon.
  • The issue that earning influence on an overflow word not adding influence to the home world's pool has been fixed.

As far as I have seen, these are all accurate; if anyone has findings that state otherwise the please post them, otherwise lets clean up the page from the unneeded marks. User:Xslare 04:19, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

What does "-7 UTC" mean? --Combatter 08:24, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
-7 UTC is the same thing as -7 GMT, just a preference to say it one way or another really. User:Xslare 00:03, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
Those are timezones, not times :-) I'd like to see somebody else confirm the "midnight in UTC-7" per-character influence reset, since I've only really pinned it down to the range I gave above (for my character/account/guild; it's possible the time varies based on one of those). I'd also like to have confirmation on dungeon influence with two guild members, because I suspect you only get 10 total in that case, not 20 -- e.g. see Razgriz3's comment above. I don't have game access for a few days, so I can't do it myself (and midnight UTC-7 is a really awkward time for me.) -- Dagger 03:58, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

Guild Catapult[edit]

I'm currently upgrading another guild to get more Guild Catapults. It was Art of War 3 and Architecture 1.But icons said it required more level in both Art of War and Architecture to be able to build catapult. Now Art of War 4 is still in progress, but Architecture is lvl 2, and it don't need more upgrade in Architecture to make catapult.

Making the required upgrade to get catapult both Art of War 4 and Architecture 2. I took a screenshot but it doesn't show information bubble. Nemow (talk) 05:28, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

"The influence is awarded immediately upon login. A summary is added to the History tab once per day. "[edit]

Can anyone explain exactly how to setup characters & logons so that you can be sure which guild gets credit for the attendance check?

My experience is that influence isn't awarded immediately and it doesn't always go to the guild I am repping on logon. I currently have several characters repping the same guild of several I belong to. I make a point of logging out while repping that guild, so the initial logon of each character is always that same guild. I do not consistently get 50 influence each day. It can be anywhere from 0 to 30. 75.36.181.48 01:22, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Speed Up[edit]

Can someone explain how speed up works? How much it costs, how often you can do it, etc. I see this in guild history often but I'm just a regular member so I don't know anything about it. - Decollete (talk) 05:26, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

It's detailed on the article Influence#Usage though there's no information how many times it can be sped up. Probably just once or twice though. Mediggo (talk) 06:15, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
Nope, you can burn as much influence as you want to get something built immediately. Which means paying 1000% of the original cost in speedup costs. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 12:44, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Unlike other dungeons, completing instances in Fractals of the Mists does not award influence.[edit]

I restored the previous phrasing above as an {{anomaly}} because the lead paragraph of both Fractals of the Mists & dungeon describes it as a type of dungeon.

Personally, I think fotm is a "dungeon" in the MMO tradition, but not a "Dungeon" by the GW2 definition, even though anet uses the term to refer to it. Aside from being instanced, it has no important similarities to the original GW2 dungeons: different reward system, no story-vs-explorer mode barrier, different type of DR, tokens are used for different things, and no influence awarded.

But since the wiki defines fotm as a type of dungeon, other articles should be consistent. Under that definition, it's anomalous that fotm doesn't reward influence. 75.36.176.20 15:58, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Personally I don't like the current version much; Fractals not giving dungeon completion influence isn't an anomaly because a) Fractals doesn't count as dungeon completion for anything else (for instance it doesn't count towards Daily/Monthly Dungeon Completer or Hobbyist Dungeon Explorer), and b) living story dungeons also don't count for influence gain.
Perhaps we could just get to the point and say "Note: only Ascalonian Catacombs, Caudecus's Manor, Twilight Arbor, Sorrow's Embrace, Citadel of Flame, Honor of the Waves, Crucible of Eternity and The Ruined City of Arah count". (That's a really long list though...) -- Dagger (talk) 16:54, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
(Argh, that's the second time I've accidentally blanked a page. Section editing + Firefox restart = the edit page forgets I'm editing a section. Thanks for noticing (again), Dr_ishmael. -- Dagger (talk) 21:25, 11 July 2013 (UTC))

Fractals now award Influence like a Dungeon, however, it doesn't list it in the breakdown you get when you hover over the entry. To reproduce this, if you rep a guild where you are the sole member and no other events have been completed that hour when you comple the boss fractal you will receive 10 influence and a message in the log saying "1 activity, earning 10 influence", however, when you hover over the entry instead of a breakdown you will get an empty box. This note should be changed, but I'm not sure how best to word it. Joironfist (talk) 14:55, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

See http://i.imgur.com/oHCzZ3L.png for an example completion with 2 members from my guild.

Mega Server[edit]

Seeing as the servers are now one mega-server the influence should be joined together and what ever is bought should go to all the guild people. There's no need for chapters, that just makes it harder for smaller guilds that are trying to build up. IMO. -- Lady A. 17 July 2014 The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.25.95.169 (talkcontribs).

This wiki is not a good place to leave feedback for Anet - no one from the company reads the talk pages here. Instead, you should post on the official forums.
Regardless, Anet posted about this issue prior to implementing the megaserver system: [1]. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:07, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

Consumables tag[edit]

A lot of the descriptions for the guild upgrades aren't very detailed. There are a lot of upgrades that are static, and stay once they're bought. Then there are a lot of upgrades that are consumable, and must be "built" over and over again to maintain use of it.

I suggest adding a column to each table of guild upgrades, so we can denote which upgrades are consumable, and which are static. That way, it can help people plan their guild upgrades if they're not already familiar with how the structure of some of them work.

Participation: Events Error[edit]

2 Influence/event if only one guild member is present

20 Influence/event if two or more guild members are present, regardless of whether they are in the same party.

tried this out and it doesn't work. it is 20 influence when I am in a party with another guild member on the same map. if I'm not in the same map and still in party, only 2 influence.

That doesn't disprove the statement, actually. "if two or more guild members are present" implicates they are in the same map doing the same event (party or not). That you get 2 influence when you are on different maps is logical, since there are two events (even if they are copies of each other). Tyndel (talk) 12:21, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

I understand what you mean, but "being present" are the wrong words for that. as "being present" alone is not enough, you have to be in the same map/location AND do the same event. one person standing around while the other does the vent doesn't give you 20 points only 2. also not being in the same party suggests you can do completely different things.
I'd suggest to change the wording to "20 Influence/event if two or more guild members are present on the same map/location and are working on the same event, regardless of whether they are in the same party."

Feedback 2015/12/13[edit]

Influence can also be traded to Akeetha Stonesunder at the mine to boost Aetherium production, 100 influence for 1 minute, 1000 influence for 10 minutes of boost. It seems to cut 2 seconds off per Aetherium tick (we were at 50 seconds a tick, and with the 10 minute boost are at 48). Thus even if you have under 10K influence you can still use it. I don't know if there are other places to spend it in the Guild Hall. --96.231.234.30 22:28, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

Current Uses for Influence, as of 1/4/2016[edit]

The vendors that I know of that trade influence for something are as follows:

Mining Boost
100 Influence to 1 minute of boosted Aetherium production
1000 Influence to 10 minutes of boosted Aetherium production
10,000 Influence to 1 hour, 40 minutes(100 minutes) of boosted Aetherium production
Favor Broker
10,000 Influence to 50 Favor
Resonance Broker
1-10 Influence to 1 Resonance
100 Influence to 10 Resonance
1000 Influence to 100 Resonance
10,000 Influence to 1000 Resonance

Any Use for Influence now? 2022[edit]

I have a personal guild that I bought back almost a decade ago and had earned Influence and bought Influence as well. But then I had taken a 4 year break due to personal health issues before the 1st expansion came out.

Recently (March 2022) I got all 3 expansions and thought "what does it take NOW to still make this old guild usable .. a guild hall, guild bank, nodes, .. all upgrades and everything a guild comes with?"

I checked my guild and it is level 2, has 4,228 Influence and no Favor (0/6000).

What is the use of the 4,228 Influence I currently have? Is there still a way to convert into Favor?

Am I able to obtain Favor without any active members other than myself??

How many members do I need to start? I have 10 but all offline. Is that why it says I don't have enough members? Do they all have to be online?

Do I have to have the guild at level 10 instead of level 2 to start?

I tried to look up Influence on the wiki only to realize a lot of the stuff related to that is outdated and I cannot find anything current about it or if it is completely useless now.

I am completely lost. --KatieBoom (talk) 13:28, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

Well, the answer to all your questions is literally in the intro paragraph, and I checked and it was present there when you posted your questions. The info is not outdated, the mechanic is simply historical though older guilds can still have some Influence left. All is explained there, including how to exchange it. ~Sime 14:01, 28 October 2023 (UTC)

well, this page should never have been marked as gone or at least reverted it a lonnng time ago see: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Found_Heirloom for how to gain mor influence and the first cuple of paras on this articles main page on how to spend it. the entire wiki is woefully inadaquette like my spelling and should only be used as a ruff guide Sleen --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.64.93.36 (talk).

Current way to get influence 2024[edit]

I see that it's not mentioned in the aricle, but we still can get influence: When doing the public instance "The Battle For Lion's Arch", we get rewards from the acheivements "Group Effort [n]", which grant a "Standard Citizen's Rescue Bag" [&AgGZwwAA], which can contain a "Small Guild Discovery" [&AgHkjQAA] which grant 50 guild's influence points.
